BREED NOTES FOR CIRNECO DELL'ETNA
This year has got off to a good start. Tigger has been out strutting his stuff around the showring and his sister Hazel won Best Bitch at SKC. I took Lucky to SKC to his first and last show. He wasn't very impressed with being shown but managed a Reserve Best Dog award, bless.
On Saturday he flew over to Finland where he met his 7th Wife. Hopefully puppies will be due at the Iosono kennel for Inka and Erja.
I have been really busy with the girls here. First litter from Bridie, A White Wedding, born on 30th March. A lovely even split of 2/2. (The Green litter). This was followed by her mother Yana, Top Brood Bitch 2008/2009/2010 giving us 4 males and 2 females on 4th May. (The Purple litter). Lastly but by no means least was Scarlet's litter born on May 25th ( The Orange litter), a fabulous 5 females and 1 male. Phewww!! good job I saved a lot of newspaper. First puppies will be leaving soon.
It has been quite an experience having puppies of different ages all together and I am looking forward to seeing many of them in the showring next year.
I decided that I would start the ball rolling with health testing. I have now had my dogs patella tested and DNA tested. So far so good.
The AGM was held on Sunday 22nd and Diane Clark did a talk on agility, Jackie gave a very interesting talk on genetics and Jane gave an informative talk on the breed in Sicily before the AGM commenced.
It was nice that Jane came over to the meeting as she recently lost her favourite female and was still quite upset. Our sincere condolences go out to Jane.
There was a full agenda which was dealt with in good time. It was nice to have debate and discussion which was all very positive and constructive for the future of the breed here in UK.
The next Cirneco newsletter will be due out at the end of July so if you have items or articles to be included, please email to the secretary who will pass them to the editor
